The Gateway symbol on the A5 is a landmark entrance to Tamworth and Staffordshire.

Unfortunately no one will accept ownership of it!

Progress over two summers

Unfortunately no one will accept ownership of it!

It is on Highways England land but was originally commissioned by local highways authorities. This means that the symbol has been left to grow over in recent years. For the second year in a row local Conservative Councillors rolled up our sleeves and put on our best gardening gloves to pull out the weeds and put down weed killer. Unfortunately we picked the wrong day to do it as it was 31.5 degrees!. However, our efforts were worth it as it looks lovely again.

Tamworth is the gateway to Staffordshire being on J0 on the M42, just 20 minutes from the centre of Birmingham, having pride in Tamworth is the driver to make a little effort and clean up this landmark.

In the picture are the councillors who did the weeding - Cllr Robert Pritchard, Cllr Jeremy Oates, Cllr Tina Clements and Cllr Richard Ford.
